About us

Quiénes somos

Dra. Ruth Z. Yuste-Alonso

Hailing from Gran Canaria, Islas Canarias (Spain), I am an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies for the Spanish Program

at the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Stetson University where I teach courses on Spanish language, literatures, and (visual) cultures from the Hispanic world from an intersectional lens.

I am passionate about learning about other cultures and diving into them through the study of language. Based on my rich experience as a student and instructor of modern languages, I strongly believe in the importance of devising activities that are hands-on, creative, and community-building to foster learning among my students in an engaged manner, so that they can demonstrate and showcase their communicative skills with student fellows and the other members of the learning community beyond the context of the classroom setting. After all, learning another language by doing is always much more effective and enriching.

If you would like to learn more about my scholarly and professional endeavors, feel free to visit my departmental website or send me an email at my Stetson email address.
